Vegetarian Thai-Style Sukiyaki

Thai sukiyaki is mom's favorite. When we were at the grocery she spotted packs of Thai sukiyaki sauce. She asked why my sis and I hadn't taken her to MK, a popular sukiyaki restaurant in Thailand. In an instant, mom developed an intense craving for this one-pot meal. Our trolley was full and we felt too lazy to drag all shopping bags with us. I suggested we make it at home. We bought  ready-to-cook sukiyaki pack and  6 small packs of sukiyaki sauce. One to use at home, the rest were packed so mom could bring them back to Philippines.

Koh Samui's Street Food

Thailand is one of the best spots in the world for street food. When I travel, eating street food is one thing I enjoy doing the most. On Samui island, I was lodged near Nathon pier, far from the touristy Chaweng Beach. A friend took me to an area  full of small stalls selling salads, Thai fast food dishes, meat/fish dishes and even desserts at  reasonable prices. Samui is a tourist place and eating at restaurants can be costly, if not expensive. If you happen to be on Samui, check out  Nathon town at night and try what they have to offer.

Koh Samui

I went to Koh Samui (Samui Island) for a business trip for a couple days last week. It was my second visit to the third largest island of Thailand. Although it was a short stay, I made the most of it.

Thai Fresh Spring Rolls

Channel Three organized a Food Fair a few weeks ago. The hotel where I did my training was one of its participants. Featured at the fair was the hotel's baked goodies and Thai fresh spring rolls. Since the fair started early,  only few kitchen staff were there to help including me. I had no background in making Thai fresh spring rolls but I learned that day just by watching the sous chef do it. We managed to make a day's supply.Thank God!

Spring rolls are good on its own. They can also be served as an appetizer or finger food at gatherings. With only a rice wrapper, greens and other veggies, you can put them together to create a complete meal.

Chocolate Cointreau Ganache Cake Topped With Cherry

Craving for a decadent dessert? This  easy-to-make rich dark chocolate cake is the answer. I used a chocolate chiffon cake drenched in syrup. The cake was then filled and coated with ganache. I decorated it with vanilla whipped topping and cherry. I decorated the side with almonds.
